A one time seasonal membership payment at the beginning of the growing season secures you one of our subscription boxes, and will bring a bounty of fruits and vegetables twice a month for you and your family over a 5 month period, beginning June 12. Members also receive priority bookings for You-Pick events, which have limited availability.
Our Subscription Boxes will include items such as greens, berries, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, root vegetables, garlic, squash, beans, peas, pumpkins, fresh herbs, fresh cut flowers and MORE.
We’ve once heard farmers be called “gamblers and optimists” and we couldn’t agree more with the accuracy of this statement. With this in mind, remember that the beginning of the season is a ramp up, and the middle of the season is much more bountiful. This will be reflected in your boxes contents - so the summer boxes may be much more bountiful than the early spring or fall boxes.
At Nan’s we put our hands in the dirt and eat what we grow. We don’t use any harmful chemicals on our plants for pest control and wholeheartedly believe in growing food that is natural and wholesome.
We use predatory insects for control, as well as natural and labour intensive methods and practices of pest remediation and management.
A Nan’s subscription box membership for the season is $250, which includes two boxes per month from June through to October. Payments can be made online via credit card or interac e-transfer.
We are aiming to launch our first box June 12th. As you know, growing is weather dependent. We will let you know in advance if we have push back our schedule. Pick up dates will be sent via email and prepared for pick up on the farm. Boxes will be prepared every two weeks, totalling 2 boxes per month.
Boxes will be available for pick up at the farm - we will let you know the available hours for pick up the week before, via email. Members will be asked to register for a time slot for their pick up. This is to ensure our harvest schedule will allow for your produce to be the freshest it can be. Deliveries can be arranged on a case by case basis, and for a small fee.
We absolutely welcome families to visit the farm. Our mission is to amplify the joys of growing your own food, and we encourage families to visit our YOU-PICKS so they can see, first hand, what different plants look like, the different stages, learn about the home garden environment (including the birds, bugs and the bees) and offer tools and feedback for your own growing journey.
Because we have many beds planted or even freshly seeded, we ask to ensure kids and adults alike stay on the paths and don't run through or jump over beds.
Unfortunately we don't allow pets on the estate farm. Should you have your pet with you when you come to visit, our private parking area will allow you to park your car with windows fully open to ensure your fur baby has a very well ventilated and close by space to rest while you are visiting. Thank you for your understanding.
We partnered with a local Bee company to host a hive this year at the Nan's Estate property. Why are bees great? Other than the sweet honey that they produce, they are a vital member of a thriving garden ecosystem. They help pollinate flowers, which improve fruit and vegetable yields not only for our estate farm, but for the whole neighbourhood. Bees are cool.
Please be aware, should you have any allergies to honey bees, that there IS a bee hive on site.
Nan's Estate Garden is on private property and we don't have public restrooms available. In cases of bathroom emergencies when visiting the farm, just talk to one of our team members and we can do our best to help support these cases.
If you have tools that you love to garden and harvest with, we encourage you to bring your own tools, absolutely. We will have a few sanitized tools to available for use, and everyone will have to sanitize their hands before entering the garden space and touching or and harvesting any produce. If you have your own gardening gloves, we encourage you to bring them. There is nothing quite like the feeling of putting on a pair of fresh gardening gloves at the beginning of the season and feeling them break in over the summer.
Nan's Estate is not responsible for the loss or misplacement of any personal items while visiting the farm.
Send us an email to discuss this, we are excited for collaborations that fit into our schedule and vision! We are dreaming of beautifully styled long table harvest dinners in the late summer evenings....
